Shape is a positioning decision before it is a manufacturing one. The standard under-eye crescent is the cheapest and fastest because the cutting die already exists. Any new shape needs a cutting die, and that die is the main reason a custom shape adds cost and time to a first order.
The shapes buyers ask for most are: standard under-eye crescent, extended crescent that covers more of the cheek, forehead patch, and full-face mask. Each has a different surface area, which changes serum load per unit and therefore unit cost — a larger patch costs more not because of the shape itself but because it carries more formula.
If you are validating demand, launch on an existing die and reserve the custom shape for the reorder. That keeps the first order at the 500-unit entry MOQ and avoids paying for tooling before you know the SKU sells.
